Realism and Responsibility
It's been a busy summer and I have not been able to post as often as I would have liked but here is a little something from Helen Keller that nicely balances realism with responsibility. Our world continues to be shaken by terrorist type events and in the face of such hatred and violence we can feel very small and helpless. This quotation reminds us that while there are many things we cannot do, there is always something we can do to make a difference. Passivity is never an option. We must speak the truth in love and refuse to be bullied by human prejudice and ignorance.

I doubt if Helen Keller was a Christian.
Whatever you think about Helen Keller what she says is true.
She was religious but not a true Christian.
Thanks Kirk. And yes, I've heard plenty of true things said by unbelievers and plenty of lies from the mouths of "Christians", through my short few years of life. Jesus is the way, the truth and life - but sadly often his "followers" are none of those things.
The "world" and ALL that is in it belongs to our GOD! And yes Jesus has instructed us to be seperated... to obstain from its sin, but HE has also commanded us to embrace, to enjoy/delight that which is good.
Simultaneously and in a temporary balance of time as we know it now, God's grace is visible in various forms. The Sun rises on both!
Truly to be born of the Spirit while occupying and partaking under HIS sovereign grace means that you are aware that just as evil is God's instrument so are the benefits of that which is good.
Next time one of you takes a bite into a crisp Ontario apple, "think" and give "thanks" not because the farmer is or is not a Christian. But because God has providentialy provided something for YOUR good...Christian! And perhaps while you are delighting in HIS providence, you may want to worship our LORD by sharing your Christian reality!
Simply living "by", "in" and "through" HIS wonderful grace.

So what if she was a communist...what is your point??? Do you actually think that Christians don't hold onto or are mislead by ideologies that don't square up with biblical perspectives?
Excuse me, but a communist is an atheist by definition, and all atheists are anti-christian.
Hey there, I know my comment comes to this thread over a year later, but I was researching this quote (that's how I found your site) and it was not from Helen Keller.
It was written by Edward Everett Hale, American Clergyman and Writer, 1822–1909
This may help with some of the confusion.
